Blizzard sold 2.4 million copies in the first 24 hours.
Besides making it the fastest selling PC game in US and (maybe) Europe, there is another reason that number is interesting.
The most recently released user numbers is around 8 million sold.
That means, 1 in 4 people that bought WoW, went and bought BC on the first day. Hell, probably only half of those 8 million have active accounts, then it becomes, 1 in 2 active WoW users bought BC the day it came out.
That is very impressive. Has any other game expansion been able to do that?
