Attorney-gate: Act XVII - A calm before the storm.

This act find Our President re-asserting his belief in Our Brave Attorney General. Which means he intends to allow Our Brave Attorney general to go down in a blaze of glory. Or at least until a suitable replacement can be found.

They really can’t afford to accidentally tap a Souter or, god forbid, Stuart Bowen. Finally the candidate has to want the job, which means he will need a very weak grasp of legal jeopardy. Alberto will only step aside when and if the right patsy candidate shows his face.

Well Harriet Miers did just retire as White House consul...

This scandal is turning into the Great Unified Theory of Bush Scandals. It links everything together. We now find out that the rogue DoJ official who took complete credit for the change to the PATRIOT act that lead to the whole scandal, may not have been completely truthful when he took entire credit. And by may not have been completely truthful, we mean lying out of his ass.

Meanwhile, Josh speaks very slowly and explains the scandal in words even the most die-hard conservative should be able to understand. They won't though.

And before I end this Act, make sure to go give Digby a read. He explains just why this scandal is different from other scandals.
