The Lessons of the Democrats

P.Z. Myers is talking about scientists who oppose ID in this post, but it can apply to democrats in late 2001/ early 2002. They are so afraid of offending someone that no one listens to them and no one cares. Guess what, if you don't act like your message matters, then no one will listen to what you have to say.

We need militant atheists. And I don't mean the ones who are anti-religion. I mean atheists who will challenge religious belief where-ever it pops up and will challenge any religious nepotism.

That is something most Christians don't get about the 1st amendment. All religions are supposed to be treated equally, for good or ill. That means if a teacher is teaching a comparative religion class, they should be allowed to teach Christianity on the same level as Iroquois beliefs. Meaning either we treat both as being able to be equal or they both are mythology.
