People are saying that Bush should replace Gonzales with an AG that will follow the law. What they seem to forget is that as far as bush is concerned, Gonzales is following the law.
This administration has proven time and time again that they fully believe in the idea of the unitary executive (or where I come from, the tyranny), which means that the executive can do whatever it feels needs to be done during times of war. No matter what the are law, since the executive's powers are more important than the laws. This isn't just about the domestic spying, the FBI abuses, the attorney-gate or signing statements, it flowing into everything they do, and is the final excuse.
Which is why congress needs to fucking stop the signing statements, and curb his powers. Bush is an unpopular inept president. What happens when a competent popular sociopath gets into power?
